The Literacy Nest is happy to offer continuing education credits (ASHA CEUs) for participation in the Building Readers for Life Conference. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) is the national professional, scientific, and credentialing association for 234,000 members, certificate holders, and affiliates who are audiologists; speech-language pathologists; speech, language, and hearing scientists; audiology and speech-language pathology assistants; and students.

Please note: to earn ASHA CEUs, you must indicate ASHA on the appropriate question on your CEU registration form. Once the conference closes and we submit participants to ASHA, we will not be able to add you to the list if you request later to earn ASHA CEUs. Thank you for your understanding.

CEU completion requirements:

• Watch each of the 15 presenter videos (the keynote is available to you but not part of the CEU track)
• Pass a brief quiz after each presentation. You must score a 100% on the quiz (the quiz can be taken as many times as needed to achieve a 100%).
• Answer a brief discussion question for each presentation
• Complete these items by November 1, 2026
• We cannot offer partial credit, so you must complete all requirements in order to earn your CEUs

It is the responsibility of the attendee to find out if a training organization, accrediting body or school district will accept continuing education credits issued by The Literacy Nest®. However, we can offer guidance on a few organizations:

• The Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) members will have to complete a preapproval form and submit it at least two weeks prior to the conference.
• Building Readers for Life CEUs are acceptable at The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC)
• The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) will accept CEUs from the conference with your participation certificate.

[Please note that continuing education credits are not the same thing as college credit. They are distinct units with different requirements and uses.]

There are no prerequisites for earning CEUs, you must simply register for the CEU option of the conference.

• If you choose to purchase this option, you will be required to provide your full name and mailing address. 
• There will be a short quiz and discussion question to complete after each presentation. You must score a 100% on the quiz (the quiz can be taken as many times as needed to achieve a 100%).
• You must complete all these requirements by the close of the conference on November 1.
• If you wish to earn ASHA CEUs, you must indicate ASHA when completing your CEU registration form. We will report your successful completion to ASHA at the end of the conference, and then they will issue your credits to you.
• If you wish to earn CEUs from IACET, which are applicable with many organizations, you will receive a certificate at the end of the conference that you can use to prove your participation.

Yes, if you register and complete the CEU option, you will be able to apply 19.5 contact hours (2 CEUs) towards your CERI certification. The two KPS topics covered may be entered as:

1.8 - Know phases in the typical developmental progression of oral language, phoneme awareness, decoding skills, printed word recognition, spelling, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and written expression.

and

2.3 - Identify the distinguishing characteristics of dyslexia.
